I understand that fact that you want to keep your freemdoms as much as you can. This is infact a private website albeit open to the public dedicated to dealings with everything Bonneville America and the Speedmaster. There are rules concerning language and behavior. The mentality of "So its the Lounge, I should be allowed to curse out my boss or threathen to kill someone I don't like, for christsake" should apply as well but it doesn't. The dribble of the lounge takes away from the charming atmosphere of the entire site. I wish the posts in the other sections of the forums were as half as passionate as the posts that are in the lounge. We were certainly have a lot more progression of useless threads. I am not saying we don't because we do have many. I just wish they would progress on the same weighted scale.
Lets make the Lounge a pay or donation forum for members only. We have grown leaps and bounds in the past year or so. Imagine how much more money we could raise to fund the cost of running this site. I would only imagine the forum topics would be cut down dramatically if this were the case. Thie would eleviate some of the 'Volunteer' moderators headache's of worrying about being called 'Nazi' or the 'Gestapo'.
I think its a good idea, charge $25-$50 a year for a membership to the BA.com Lounge. If this lounge is so important and is a must-need then at that price it would be a bargain. Plus it would supply much needed assets for the site administrator. Those who don't sign up for a Lounge membership will still have access to all the usefull and insightful information and ideas that drew them to the site in the first place.
