Phil,
The backrest has a 'set' screw. Yes you could do as your thought suggests, but then the backrest would kind of 'float' within it's metal hole. It is a PITA to remove. The PITA is that you have to remove the saddle to do it. A N O T H E R thing about the Corbin saddle that I have never heard mention of is this:
Quote:
The fuse access cover cannot be removed for fuse access without removing the saddle. Sure, you can lift up the cover to access the fuses, but I could never fully remove the cover. The cover has a finger on the top of it that 'slide fits' into a slot. With the Corbin saddle in place I could not swing the cover upward enough to disengage this finger.
OK I can live with that issue. But changing a fuse without this issue is little finger work. So having the cover narrow the clearance due to non-removal, makes it little finger/narrow finger work, and night time creates an alien of you in that you need little, narrow fingers and three hands! Thank goodness for forehead flashlights!
I do like my Corbin saddlery.
PS: Dream Dictionary
Definition: Seeing a saddle in your dream, suggests that you need to freely pursue your goals. Do not let anyone hold you back from achieving goals. Dreaming that you are sitting on a saddle means that you will rise to a position of prominence and power.
