my wife could not stand the stock pillion for more than a 1/2 hour.I brought it to an auto upholstery shop and had them rebuild it. they replaced the foam with a high density foam which is supposed to offer better comfort for the long rides. He also shaped it wider and flat like a seat should be.Unfortunately it has been too cold for her to ride so I can't say how she likes the ride,but it has to be better than the stock.It cost me $100,and he can easily reshape it to her liking if need be.
