You can do the AI Removal for under $10, until such time as one of the nifty kits becomes a necessity, i.e., when ya decide you've got to have it...
You can get oil drain plugs at the local car parts place that will fit in just fine, and suffice until a proper kit can be had, and a tube of copper anti-seize, for under $10 I believe, and then bend over the big rubber hose and tie it off with a tie strap. I did until I could spring for the kit (which I did) and it worked fine. Didn't have the cool Union Flag engraving, but worked fine...
