Bodger - I was lucky enough to spend a couple of weeks riding in the BC / Alberta area back in 2004. I went from Vancouver to Calgary on the Trans Canadian Highway - lots of nice scenery particularly from Kamloops onwards. Had my own bike so can't help with hire vendors, but member Celt was / is living in Surrey BC so may be able to help - his profile might have an email address if he hasn't been here for a while.
