Wow differences in approach to lubing or not lubing X or O ring chains.
When I purchased the America in 2006 sales man noted to lube chain every 350 miles.
I oil the chain every 800 miles using synthetic chain oil, spray it right on.
But I get your point about built up oil with lots of sand in the mix all over the chain guard and rear tire rim.
