Ah yes, in my youth I was bullet proof too with the jeans and t shirt and loved taking trips up across the South Carolina state line and shedding my cheapo 25 dollar helmet.Got stupid lucky one night when I went into a curve waaay too hot and ended up going over the handlebars and skidded my 25 dollar helmet down the asphalt for a while.
A bit more cautious in my later years though, still jeans but they have kevlar patches in them, always boots, a jacket and gloves hot or not and I can't even imagine riding without my HJC helmet anymore. But hey, to each their own.
