I was away and this slid under memory.
It's been over 10 years since we lost the Good Friar John Bedard.
He was the soul of this site for a good while, and he made his mark... at least for me. He was a true friend, even though we never met face to face. Oh I wish we could have.
Cheers big guy... sorry I missed the June 5th celebration.
Never forget the Wielder of the Hammer of Smiting.

We certainly all lost something when he died. This site lost the magic it had. I share a birthday with him so every time that rolls around he comes to mind.

John gave me a buffalo hide wallet maybe 12-13yrs ago and I still carry every single day. Wendy and I talk about him often, we three rode to and from Vegas to Dwight's in AZ back in, probably '09. He ran out of fuel in the desert in the middle of nowhere and we all stood by the side of the road a couple of hours waiting for Dwight to bring us a fuel can. Oh, how we laughed ... I have pics to prove it, if only I knew how to attach 'em

Friar won a lovely Triumph jacket at the last Nelson BC rendevous he ever went to, I think. On the way home, he stopped in my town and we met for lunch. He gave me the jacket, because he laughed, there was no chance he’d ever be able to wear it (too small).
He went on and on about his plans for the site and his new Rocket 3. He was pretty excited about his new ride and I was blown away by the jacket. Turns out, it was the last time I ever saw him.
Still have the jacket. Still miss him…

I think I met him at Dwight's in 09 when we went to the Library at the canyon. Wow, the years click off.

I am scanning these old posts remembering all you guys. When I started to pull my bike out of its extended storage I was thinking I needed to move my Friar John patch to my new jacket. What a great guy he was

I was fortunate to meet friar john at the georgia rally in 2012 - the only rally I've made it to - so far. We had a chance to talk for a bit about bikes and computers....he was a funny and gracious guy. Rest easy.
...you're gonna feel a little pressure....
