HI everyone,

After 80k miles I have traded my02 America for a new 2020 Bud Ekins T100. Its weird, but it only had 10 miles on it. The dealer says I need to bring it in for a 600 mile service. But, do I really have to? I've been maintaining my America without dealer assistance (except for a couple of valve checks) for over 20 years. I don't see anything on the maintenance schedule that looks all that hard or different than what I am used to doing. I've also ordered the driver tune package so I can read codes and reset the service indicator.

Its just a pain to take the bike to a dealer. Its over an hour away with no public transport. Any thoughts?

Ted

I don't see why you would need to unless they have a warranty on it. If so then check the terms to see if they have to service it to maintain coverage.

Even though the bike has only 10 miles on it, Triumph won't extend the warranty past June, so there's not much risk there.

Thanks for the input.

One other thing is if they still want you to check your valve clearance at the first service you should do so. The 2 bikes I had (both Triumphs 04 BA and 04 SM) that I did the first service on didn't need to have anything done to the valves.
