I've been to one....Friar John's surprise visit - the one and only time I met him in person. And I'd really like to make it to this one. I appreciate the early notice. It's on my calendar, and hopefully it stays there. Don't know if I'll camp this time - my - let's say middle aged - bones don't like that so much any more. So - open to local accommodation ideas. Looking forward to it!

I always wanted to make the trip to Georgia but it just didn't happen. Now I don't think I could handle a ride that far. What a shame. Have fun gentleman !!! I hear ya snert. A long time ago while riding Daytona bike week with newt, newt says to me that I was lucky to have ridden country-wide as I was young and could. Now a over a decade latter, I know exactly what he was implying. Lol. On my way to the pole barn this September, I’ll ride by a place on US1 just south of the Georgia border in Florida. It’s an old building that no longer has raucous throngs of revelers. Yet the sign remains. “BAR”. Of course I think of the ‘Bar’ in your neck of Americana.

Roger that on the glad I got it done when I was younger. I have been fortunate to be able to log several epic road trips over the years thanks in a large part to my friend Moe. We met on our first trip to Indiana and it didnt take long to figure out who needed to be leading the charge. I am the guy who gets lost going to places I have been before.. I call him up and say "Hey!" Lets take a road trip to the Arizona rally this year! And next I know he has it all planned and mapped out so mostly I just follow him. I wanted to make a trip up to Canada before it was all said and done but I think I mght have waited too late on that one.

Yes, the body doesn'.t move like it use to but you can't give in, My two buddies and I are trying a cross country at the end of May. At 66, 70 and 71 we may not make it but we are still working the bucket list... In any case an effort will be made to make it to Georgia because it has always been the main event of this site.

It's a shame but our B A R is an empty building now and the road to and from is in too bad of shape to carve through it at wicked dangerous speeds. I am glad I enjoyed it when I did though. I was always looking forward to running those roads in Chy's backyard. These golden years aren't very golden. lol. Post and put up pictures of the rally for those of us that wish we were there.

What about using a trailer to get there or is that sacrilegious for Triumph riders, in that case I'm bad. Loading up the Speedmaster and heading down east for the month of June. Do some shamrocks in PEI then move over to Cape Breton then down to Halifax and finish on the border of Maine and NH on the way back. Just a thought because this old body don't do long distance any longer either.

Yes! If I remember heading north on the right side just after the defunct Motel. Unless its all been torn down by now.
I rode up from Daytona then crossed into Georgia years ago riding through all those fabulous pines in Georgia.
All the times slicing through the wind, rushing into the adventure of life, where you lose track of where the body stops and the bike begins.
I hate being old, but after my family, life on my motorcycles has always been my greatest rush.
I barged into the thread, I apologize.
I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

Lots of campsites in this area. One only a few miles from my house, Newt stays there everytime he comes up.

Hi guys! Bob (Habuba) and I are planning on attending this year. We now live in NC, so it's a lot closer. We will be trailering tho. We need recommendations for both camping with a 20ft toyhauler, or if we decide to use the enclosed trailer, a good hotel. Looking forward to seeing y'all since the AZ rally's.

Hey Chy, remember the T-shirts from the SWTF that you and mike, moe and greg wore? Well, we need T-shirts with SETF/GR. Of course we need to add a couple more bodies to model those shirts. BTW: AmyLee is typing this. lol

Do you have a recommended hotel close by? I have checked the local campsites and they appear to be few and far away.

Two wheels at Suches is a nice spot, and they have primitive two men cabins ( I'm too dammed old to sleep on the ground any longer ) . I've stayed there before and I'm thinking about it again. Yeah it's a haul over the mountain to Dahlonega, but in my opinion the motel cost's in Dahlonega at any location is over the top for what you get. If anyone finds a campsite with cabin rentals closer in let me know. As the ole guy said " The Rent Is Too Damn High"

Just made revs at Two Wheels in Suches, I'll be there Friday thru Sunday. If anyone is looking for a spot to stay these are two bed cabins, I'll have an extra bed. I believe I booked the last one.

*TRAVEL WITH CAUTION*
Road work on the Tennessee side of the Cherohala Skyway, TN-165, started today (8/22/22). Over the next few weeks, they will be focused on repairing guardrails and, around Labor Day, microsurfacing from mile marker 3 to the TN/NC state line will begin.
The Cherohala Skyway will not be closed, but travelers should expect delays. All road work is expected to be completed by the end of September - just in time for visitors to enjoy the fall foliage on the new surface.

I finally got to get out for a ride this morning. I hate to sound like the old man I am but a series of health related issues have kept me off the road for several months so it was good to be able to book a few miles in the cool morning air. It did give me the opportunity to go over a couple of rides I would like to make this year. We are gonna have to do a Wolf Pen gap run of course and probably add in Richard Russell pkwy while we are up that way. Absolutely a visit to Hiawassee, taking the long way around and maybe Fort Mountain. I had thought about a trip up to Cherohala too but we will talk about it when ya'll get here, hopetully I will get some more saddle time in between now and then. Looking forward to it! See you then.

I did...thats why I wanted to talk about it. I think we can occupy ourselves with rides around here but had mentioned that we might go north this year so I thought I would leave it open for discussion if anyone was interested.
