Well i guess winter finally showed up. It has been pretty mild so far but I guess it is about time. Supposed to snow tomorrow but I am not going to break out my plow just yet. (A joke for those northernly inclined.) It was about 45 today but sunny and I started to go out on one of the bikes but by the time I decided which leathers to wear, the clouds showed up and it suddenly got a good bit cooler. I built an ironhead sportster for a buddy of mine then he discovered that he no longer fits his leathers so be gave me an HD jacket and chaps. Cant go riding my Triumph with HD leathers or vice versa..just wouldnt be right. My Sporty is doing a lot better now after finally having purged the Harley gremlins but I just cant seem to get rid of the "cough" . Riding along at steady throttle it will cough like its lean but I cant seem to jet my way out of it. Definately a bar hopper though, cant believe guys would ride these things cross country. It is very clear to me that these bikes are exactly why Jap bikes ruled the roost back in the 70s and 80s. Oh well, the johnquils are coming up.and the days are getting longer so spring is just around the corner. Hang in there my northern friends. I know youre thinking,"dang Chy!", well maybe not like that maybe " gosh Chy" this post covered many topics to include tech help, accesories and other bikes.. Why did you post it here? Cause i can.. And i miss my little dude riding the motorcycle emoji dang it!

Hard to believe the bike I rode all over the country too. You have seen pictures of it, my red 66 TR6C chopper. Long springer, hard tail etc.. I rode that as far west as Wyoming and south as Fl. When I was riding that bike still if you saw me there with it, I rode it there. I carried spare points on a breaker plate and my timing tools along with duct tape wrapped around a small piece of pencil, wire, zip ties, clamp on cable barrel, and a good assortment of tools. Wasn't much I couldn't fix along the road.

I got to ride on NYE day. and again on jan 2. but then we got more than expected snow on jan 3. and are expecting more tonight. (I'm in virginia about 50 miles west of DC right where the piedmont starts...)
But I'm still hoping to ride on sunday to a local event that happens the 2nd sunday of every month.
We'll see....
...you're gonna feel a little pressure....

I love hopping on the thing and ripping around my block. Its loads of fun but that original seat is stiil hard as a brick and my butt dont do bricks anymore. Talked to the insurance guy about my old man insurance today. Sucks getting old... I went to the grocery store last week early as usual right after opening walking around pushing my buggy with my list in my hand. When i got home I was telling Di that the place was pretty empty, just mostly old dudes walking around pushing buggies with a list in their hand.. then it dawned on me... I am one of them old dudes. I managed to salvage a bit of my ego when i thought yeah, but I bet they didnt drive home in a Mustang.

Speaking of...Why is it people who drive convertibles wear a hat with no top on it? I used to wear my motorcycle helmet sometimes when I had my TR7. Speaking of bad investments, i paid 900 dollars and wrecker bill from Atlanta, spent over a year working on it and spent 2000 dollars getting it road worthy then two years later I sold it for 900 dollars. At least that guy got to drive it home, beyond that there was no gaurentee.

Up here its snow tires all around and swapped out my sporty Mazda 3 for a mid size SUV. Jonquils wont be pushing their heads up for another 4-5 months. Eagle Rider has been tempting me with a special 1/2 price rental in the SW stations up until March 31st. I might just have to make a trip this winter if the airlines can get their schedules back in order. Meanwhile it is supposed to be -20 (-4F.) here next Tuesday, darn why didn't we buy the Turks and the Caicos when we had the chance.

-30 (-10) this morning. Yah that's too frosty to do much outside this morning. I'm looking at pictures of Big Bend National park (Texas) just to feel a little better about today.

A carefully tuned S&S carb will probably get rid of the cough unless it is caused by a sticky valve

I have a super e on it now and have been chasing the jets for awhille. Its getting closer I think with my latest .330 intermediate jet install. When the rain stops and the sun comes out I'll give it another run.

Been a while since I messed with SS carbs, but isn't a super E a little big for that engine?
