Just looking on Wikipedia, his first tv role looked like it was in Kojak in 1977.
I loved that show as a 10yr old.
Dallas, Knots Landing and Dynasty, Lou Grant, Mash, Cagney & Lacy - he was everywhere.
He always struck me that his good guys could've been bad guys too. He had that look I thought.
