Recently refreshed the brakes on my 07 SM on anticipation of practicing appropriate fair weather social distancing

I went with EBC FA196HH pads up front & FA214HH rear, Galfer DOT 4 brake fluid, and CRC 05361 Silaramic Brake System Grease.

The RF pistons were sticking, which resulted in uneven pad wear. Rear pistons just starting to stick. The rotors all looked good. The slide pins needed to be cleaned & smoothed. The floating caliper pins needed to be greased.

Neither of the 2 cans of brake cleaner that I had on hand sprayed properly, & things are basically shut down due to Covid...so, WD40 to the rescue to clean around the pistons!

This was a refresh, not a complete rebuild, so the pistons stayed in the caliper but were partially pumped out to clean & relube with brake fluid before pressing the pistons back in.

Fine & extra fine steel wool made short work of cleaning up the pad pins.

My HF vac bleed kit makes it relatively easy to bleed & replace brake fluid. So happy to have that. The old fluid still looked like new, however it had been in service nearly 6 years, so time to replace it.

Brief test ride & everything works properly now!
