AAA basic is 3 miles free then you pay by the mile, typically $4 + or - a mile. You get 3 tows a year (maybe 4 I forget) A jump , flat tire , lock out , or out of gas all count as a call for all tiers. Basic you pay for the gas and it's usually more than at the pump.
AAA Plus you get up to 100 mile tows the rest is the same. Then by the mile again.
AAA Premier you got one 200 mile tow and the rest 100 miles and AAA pays tolls for basic and plus you are responsible for any tolls. AAA pays fuel cost for out of gas on this level.
One caution is AAA doesn't pay well and sometimes they have a hard time getting providers and wait time can be long. Depends where you are. If they have a contracted provider in the area of your break down they are contracted to arrive in 45 minutes or less. If they have to search for a provider the time can run into hours. If an outside provider is called by you you can submit the mill but most of the time you will only get partial coverage of the bill. For an example when I was doing it AAA only paid $24 for a lock out, flat tire, jump start, or out of gas to the provider. A basic tow was about the same so very few want to do it. Most will also look for any way they can deny AAA coverage to be able to charge regular rates. Member has to be present at the time of service with picture ID, car must have current registration, insurance , and inspection if applicable (out of state can not be enforced for inspection)
All 3 levels do not cover any trailers, quads, campers,etc... you must have RV coverage for those.
Edit:
I almost forgot, a tow back to the provider's place of business is always covered no matter the distance on all tiers but will still not cover anything but what you are driving unless you have RV.
