Yeah this is car related but I stand a better chance of getting this sorted on here than anywhere.

So ... I have a 2007 Chrysler 300c CRD.
The EGR valve gasket was leaking oil so I got a local garage to sort that.
I picked the car up this afternoon and I have gained a noise.
The ignition key is the original-style metal key (up to about '08-'09 maybe?) and not the plastic Mercedes plug-in key I had in my '10.
If I put the ignition key in, after 4-5 seconds there is a harsh sounding electronic beeping noise. Maybe 6-7 beeps in a second or two. Rapid.
I tried starting straight away or just put the key in and not starting. Same noise.
It's NOT the bong bong of the seatbelt. The bloke in the garage suggested that 'fix' but all that has achieved is to turn back ON the bong bong of the seatbelt!!
Anyone have a Chrysler / Dodge that has done the same?
This is my third 300c. Never had this before.
My first thought was maybe the battery in the key is low. The transponder thing getting low. I don't know.
Internet searches all seem to turn up the seatbelt noise. It's not that.
I've had enough American cars to know the usual 'key is in', 'door is open', 'your hair looks nice today' noises.

Car drives fine. Better in fact than before (I assume the sensor on the EGR valve is sending the right signals now the leak is fixed?).
I can't just carry on driving it like it is just because it runs ok, modern cars don't make electronic sounds for no reason.
Anyway, I'm looking to sell it as I've seen a nice Caddy locally that I like the look of ...

Thanks in advance

.

I think the fuse that lights the overhead console is the same fuse the runs the starting sequence. Once I got my 2010 no problems except the winmod (key/ignition brain that talks to starter) went bad. lol fuse someplace between 30 and 40 will kill all dinking and pinging.

If you pull that fuse remember it won't ding at you if you are leaving the keys in the car either.

Now I have a 2017 Grand Caravan. Engine light visits me about every 4 or 5 weeks. Disconnect the battery for 60 seconds put it back and all fixed... for another month lol.

The dings are the ignition sequence/check. It should not make noise if you turn to start. Meaning, weight on the key like a heavy key ring is wearing the ignition or the ignition is getting sloppy not clearing that pole all the way when it goes to start.

If selling I would locate the actual buzzer or bell that emits the noise and unplug it if accessable.

Thanks for those but like I say, it's not the nice cosy bong bong sound.
This is a sharp electronic beep. Pretty loud and 5-6 of 'em in a second or two.

I'll look at the fuses though and try it without the other keys hanging off it.
Cheers
