I have in my possession a foot locker, boots, medals, 8 x 10 service photo from WW2. His family did not want these items and were about to discard them. SMH

I had the opportunity to talk with this man a few times before he passed. With deep sadness he told me a story about getting very ill one evening and spending the night in the infirmary. His squad flew out on a mission the next morning without him. None of them survived.
He told me he didn't understand while he was still here and ask me if I knew why he lived to be an old man. I was stunned, the only thing I could tell him was he was here to tell his story so the world would never forget.
He met his sweetheart in London and they were married. He brought her back to America where they lived for 60 years.
I also had the pleasure of meeting and talking with his wife before her passing. She was indeed a sweetheart.

Thank you SGT Sharp for you service to our country and the world. RIP sir
