I have to say at first look I like it. Styling reminds me of the 70s Honda 750four.

Been reading and it sounds like it is going to be fun to ride, The power reminds me of the old 650s with a little more torque.

Maybe not up there with Triumph quality but ya modern Enfield isn't too bad.
I had a brand new Bullet a couple of years ago and it was nice. At least it was all steel.

Cheapest Bonny over here is Street Twin £7,800 (Approx $9,750)
The Enfield Interceptor £5,499 / £5,999 (Approx $6,874 / $7,499)

As a little scratcher, I bet a few people would be tempted to get the Enfield and trouser nearly 2 1/2 grand

A friend of mine was telling me about this yesterday on the phone and I was looking at it online. I really like it.
Surely if bumbling along and taking in the view is your bag, why have the Bonny over the Enfield?!
Ok, the Bonny is faster and has more power but who says it's going to be more reliable?
If reliability is a factor, wouldn't a Honda or a BMW be the way to go?
I like the Enfield. Long may they prosper in the land of the sacred cow and God bless all who sail in her !

Have to say I think it's a great looking bike...memories of Enfield Interceptor etc.
Not a big fan of Enfield India engineering...to date it's been poor metallurgy and quality control all round.
Also, what's the top speed? Bet it's nowhere near that of a real Interceptor.
Bah Humbug!
Let's have a proper bike

They used to have 'home market' and 'export' market lines (certainly on paint). The home stuff can be a bit dire.
I can only speak from experience, my Bullet was sound.

Top speed? Depends on the ass on the seat. Most blokes might get 80-90 I suppose. Me on it? Double figures would be nice

Ya know newt, I think you might be onto somethin' here.

Yeah, come to think of it, I'm seein' a little Norton-esque look in 'em myself here.

(...especially in that white tank model)

Yep, you've touched upon the very reason for someone purchasing one of 'em here, Ade.

(...the reasonably low price)

Yeah, maybe Alan, but I'll bet these modern RE Twins with their overhead cams and a balance shaft in 'em will sure run a hell of lot smoother and safely rev a lot higher than any of those old pushrod RE Interceptors of yore.

(...wouldn't ya think?)

Here's one more comment I'll now make regarding these new RE twins...

If and when, as is now expected, they come out with a scrambler version of these babies and like the following YouTube video suggests...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=20&v=VNKrIEOly3A

...I very much WOULD in interested in purchasing one. And especially if they're offered at under a $7K selling price.

(...as I already own the two strictly road-going motorcycles I'd ever want...the BA and the Indian Springfield)

I sure get the attraction of an "antiquey" bike. (Last week was me slobbering over the smaller, underpowered Janus motorcycle) And I really did the same kind of slobbering over a Bullet a few years back. But for me, the price point is way too close for something that resembles a modern Triumph, which is also looking the part of the earlier bikes. If I DID buy a RE, it's still probably be the smaller Bullet for it's retro styling. I admire the bike and RE, just not totally sold on their reliability. By the way, how many miles did you have on your Bullet and how reliable was it?

No scrambler yet but with the Interceptor, they have also released a Continental GT cafe racer style

I think the upswept peashooters are why it reminds us of the Norton.

You know in the new Triumphs I see the history of the bikes, but they are modern in every way.

I have been on a few RE and love them, but the fun thing to me is not only do they look retro they ride retro.

Does that make sense?

I have not seen any on the road so far here in India but will keep eyes out for one. If they have a distinct sound like the singles the polish of a Triumph and that price I could be interested. Passing by a dealer tomorrow I will look in.

There wasn't one on the lot just this one in the showroom and the rep would not fire it up to hear. Felt good and at the price of $4600 CAD the difference in price between here and there would pay for a nice vacation.

Bill as much as I would like to be the first with one in Ottawa, No. I doubt the dealer in Rockland will bring one in this year unless there is a mandate to do so they didn't move that many bullets from what I understand.

Definitely a head turner, reminds me of my younger days in the 60's when the Mods and Rockers were all the rage.

Bulleteer is doing interesting things with the Singles as well. I know all too well after 3 months in India what it soundslike with stock exhaust I would imagine with the custom ones they announce their arrival with authority.

I was up close at them in the dealers today.Too tall for me.The quality seemed ok but not Triumph or Japanese standard.A few rough welds, but all in all a pretty solid bike.

Went to get tires this week and saw a couple 650’s at a shop. Sat on one, they ARE pretty tall. There was a gold one not bad looking for 7,000 bucks.

I had a 17 year old T110 that had more oil on it's outside and on the ground than it kept inside.

I've been having a good think about this....but the in the end I couldn't see why I'd pay £6k for a bike which doesn't seem to measure up against a tba in performance, comfort, handling...etc.
Am I missing something?

Agreed. And let's not forget RE's weak dealer network.

I've been having a good think about this....but the in the end I couldn't see why I'd pay £6k for a bike which doesn't seem to measure up against a tba in performance, comfort, handling...etc.
Am I missing something?

I disagree. What you're missing is "apples and oranges". If you look at what you are getting for the money in just quality, performance and reliability, then the Triumph (or any jap bike) is gonna win for sure. I have the same problem when I lust after the "Janus" I posted on here. For just a little more money, I could buy a rock solid Triumph Bonny. The Bonnie would be bigger, faster and probably more reliable. But you have to consider other factors, like "fun" and "different". I still occasionally go to the Janus website and lust after one. While it would make no sense economically or performance wise, I just know it would be a different kind of FUN! And THAT is why we sometimes buy the toys we buy. To be different and to have a different kind of fun! Just my two cents. (And I'm gonna take a day trip SOMETIME to Indiana just to look and test ride. And maybe....BUY!)
