A bit late to this party....forgot my password yet again I ran an Enfield 500 Bullet for about 2 years as my only bike. Whilst I liked it's old fashioned look and feel, it was frankly poor in terms of reliability and performance......anywhere North of 60 mph and the vibes were unbearable....and yes I ran loads of British singles back in the seventies.
I took the Road Less Travelled.
Now where the ****** am I?

It really boils down to what you like, I could easily afford to buy a triumph storm or any other big bore cruiser but the america and speedys just push my button more, guess I just like the look of them more...I dont mind the look of the Intercepetor but was wondering does anybody know if it runs a 360 crank or the now more popular 270..?

It has a 270 crank pin placement, Peter. Here's a computer imaged "cutaway" shot of it along with its balance shaft...
(...and FWIW...the more I've seen of these babies on the internet, the more I'm intrigued by them...if one should ever find its way into my garage, it would be what I'm pretty sure they're going to do next with it OR would at least be what I think they'd be well advised to do next with it anyway...make a scrambler version...I COULD be all over somethin' like that!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Perhaps a representative in California could volunteer to go to one of the launches coming up soon, do a test drive and like a good cub reporter give us a by line. My daughter said that anyone could show up to ride one as long as they were licenced.

Parked my arse on a 2019 GT today. I must say, RE hit it out of the park with these new twins. They have very little in common with the earlier thumpers. I can see me adding an INTerceptor to my garage when the time is right. Oh, and there are plenty of favorable road tests on YT now.

Chennai the city where they are made where I tried unsucessfully to do a factory tour only to be blocked by a Sacred Cow this past January, is out of water. I'm sure they need some water to manufacture them and the people torquing the nuts need water otherwise they may fall off (or shrivel). It sounds like a Monday (hangover day) or a Friday ( end of the week day) in Chryslers Windsor plant may be an everyday occurance.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/n...&fit=boundsYeah,not for me.It'd be ok as a donor bike to make a chopper or custom and save a vintage Triumph,BSA,Norton maybe? https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/n...&fit=bounds

Even though this dude has one of them there "funny accents" (and I'm sure ALSO spells certain words with that oh so needless and superfluous letter 'U') I thought his comparison "test" between the motorcycle in question here and the latest Triumph T120 was fairly evenhanded and well done... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2zu2sxfKYM&t=1s(...my only complaint being here that this bloke should have perhaps compared Triumph's latest model T100 to the RE, as it's not only closer in displacement to the RE, but also price-wise)

Well, having owned both modern RE and Hinkley Triumph, if I was laying down the £$, I'd have the RE. Just to be a bit different. A very good friend owns a nearly new BMW R1250GS and just for s*ts and giggles, an equally nearly new G310GS. Tomorrow, he's trading the 310 for a brand new Himalayan.
Too many people are brand snobs. Most modern machines do pretty much what anyone needs. The whole point of riding is to have fun. Enjoy the ride. I don't care if that means you ride a Honda Cub. Whatever floats your boat.

I'm currently touring France on my tbird. I saw an interceptor two up in Versailles last week....the passenger looking uncomfortable and hanging on grimly. Behind was a two up Bonneville 865... Much happier passenger.
