After 20k miles in the gunfighter, (and loving it), last night I learned something new and love it even more now.
I rode a friends America around his neighborhood - just a few of blocks. He has a Corbin and rider backrest. I could immediately tell I was sitting lower and felt further back when I got on - maybe similar to Brent's low profile seat? Anyway, I found it awkward at the lower speeds and making the turns around the neighborhood - like I had less control of the bike - less between my knees, maybe. Maybe it's just more relaxed.
So, when I got back on my SM, (for a 35 mile midnight ride back home through downtown Houston at 80 mph

), for some reason, I immediately scooted to the front of my seat. I never do that, but suddenly that felt GREAT!
It was softer, more padded, and I felt like I was in a more controlled riding position. I think I'll stay there - or at least go there a lot. Tank firmly between my knees, bars in easy reach - closer - felt more like a sport bike.
I really do think these bikes are the best kept "Power Cruiser" secret out there - up to 90 mph anyway. Very useable.
