I am a new owner trying to adjust to the seat and am experiencing a bad case of butt burn as I came off a 2000 suzuki 1200 bandit. Will I break in as the bike does or should I start looking for anaftermarket solution as its only 5 days? help!

most people here don't like the stock seats. I found no problem with mine, but you will probably hear Corbin a lot

I have 18k miles on my Speedy in less than 2 years, and a lot of that has been spent in the saddle from one gas pump to the next, none stop. I hear all of the talk about the Corbins and what-not, but I can't complain about my Gunfighter. I think about it often after being in the saddle for a long stretch, and I just have to smile. I really like it.

I don't have floorboards or a windscreen, or a luggage rack, yet. I would do a solo seat with fender rack, but don't know if the seat would be as comfortable as I find the GF. I like the idea of the touring seat, with a sissy bar & rack, but still don't know that I would ever have anybody on back, so why spend the $$$ on the seat?

I currently have been just strapping my Red Oxx Safari Beanos bag onto the top of my W&M saddlebags, in a waterproof bag if needed. It fits nicely across the top of the seat - I just hope I don't have paint issues between the back of the seat and the number plate - have only done this a couple of times and can't really see a problem (don't want to). RED OXX

But the seat, I like. Could stretch my legs a bit sometimes - like maybe some highway pegs on some crash bars might afford, but for just me, the GF is a keeper for now.

I really can't say how much it "broke in", as the first few months I had the bike I put 1000 miles/month on it and never gave it much thought. I've heard good and bad about the Corbins - some say too hard after should be broke in and others say it is sweet from the start. Sounds like an expensive experiment to me.

I do find that I'm more comfortable back "in" the seat, whether I have my feet on the front or rear pegs, so I reposition often, maybe sitting up on the "high" part a while, but as soon as I brake or decellerate, my butt slides forward a bit which is okay if I need to be ready to brake more or downshift.

I find the gunfighter seat to be just fine comfort wise. I will never be riding for longer than a single tank of fuel will take me without a break anyway.

But I have a skinny litte tush. Those broader in the beam below the waist may think otherwise.

The passenger part of the gunfighter is clearly not designed for a passengers comfort. I got a touring seat for the wife so she will not complain when she does go for a ride. That and a tall sissy bar combine for a nice ride for her.

I've got the gunfighter seat on my BA and find that it is much more comfortable than the stock solo. I should be receiving the newspeedmaster.com low profile seat soon, and hope that it's as comfy.

My original gunfighter seat was comfortable enough, and I could spend a long day in the seat. There were two things I didn't like. The cantle or backrest was not firm enough and my butt would roll back on the seat, causing pain in my lower back. On long trips I would roll up a coat and tie it behind the seat for a little more support. The other problem was the complaints from passengers. My few passengers (my girlfriend and my sister) didn't like the seat.

It always suprises me when i hear this. maybe it's because i didn't ride for 2 decades so all my bikes were 70's models and the seats were not as comfortable as todays seats. But whatever the reason, i find the gunfighter by far the most comfortable seat i've ever ridden. In fact, it's almost rediculously comfortable. i could fall asleep in the ****** thing ! (luckily that hasn't happened yet

I find the gunfighter saddle very comfortable and the touring seat even more so.

I swapped out my gunslinger with a touring seat.. I didn't notice much difference, but my passengers did! The seat is more than comfortable for around town and short hauls and I do think it is far more comfortable than a lot of other bikes. However, it did cause me to pull over more often than I had wanted to on my N.Georgia Rally trip.. I try to fill up every hundred miles, and I found that at about 50, the old southern end was starting to get a bit sore, so I would do a stop between fill up's just to stretch a bit. It really depends on your size, weight and riding position.. some people absolutely love the gunslinger/touring seats, others hate them, and most fall somewhere in between. I will say that there was a LOT of cash invested in Corbin seats at the GA Rally

Cheers,
Brad

After 20k miles in the gunfighter, (and loving it), last night I learned something new and love it even more now.

I rode a friends America around his neighborhood - just a few of blocks. He has a Corbin and rider backrest. I could immediately tell I was sitting lower and felt further back when I got on - maybe similar to Brent's low profile seat? Anyway, I found it awkward at the lower speeds and making the turns around the neighborhood - like I had less control of the bike - less between my knees, maybe. Maybe it's just more relaxed.

So, when I got back on my SM, (for a 35 mile midnight ride back home through downtown Houston at 80 mph ), for some reason, I immediately scooted to the front of my seat. I never do that, but suddenly that felt GREAT!

It was softer, more padded, and I felt like I was in a more controlled riding position. I think I'll stay there - or at least go there a lot. Tank firmly between my knees, bars in easy reach - closer - felt more like a sport bike.

I really do think these bikes are the best kept "Power Cruiser" secret out there - up to 90 mph anyway. Very useable.

I got the touring seat for 2-up with the wife. She loves it and it's even a little more comfortable for me.
However, I only use it when she's on the bike with me. Otherwise I pop the gunfighter seat back on for solo riding. It's great!

And what a great name for a seat! lol
