I used to be a regular on here, about a million years ago. Life got in the way I guess... personal issues to deal with, family medical issues (wife with a brain tumor), oh also retiring from the Army and starting a new career in the middle of all that.
Finally getting to actually live life instead of just trying to keep my head about water in the middle of a storm. Missed all the fun and frivolity around here.
And I'm finally again having some time and inclination to tinker on the bike again (going to put new pics up in the members rides area), and this is the best place for inspiration and information...so here I am again.
Oh yes, the name change...somewhere in those intervening years, I got the promotion I didn't think I was going to get. I was considering going all the way to 30 after that, but realized one day my heart wasn't in it anymore; wife supported my decision and I pulled the plug and retired with 23 years. Got very lucky and went to work immediately with United Airlines working on ground support equipment. Since then, I have gotten zero 3am phone calls to go pick up a private from the military police station, and when I travel for training I get to stay in a hotel instead of a tent!
After a brain surgery, a lot of medication trials, and a study at Cedar Sinai, my wife has settled into her new normal of daily/monthly shots and a steroid routine that makes her mostly okay. Without getting too much into it, she has what's classified as a Very Rare Disease. So she really is one in a million (okay 1 in 100,000).
So... Hello again, everyone!
