Not an oil thread, but... Tire pressure?

Curious what you guys think and do about tire pressure. I always try to keep the maximum pressure on the tire sidewall, although I know vehicle manufacturers always have a different, lesser, specification. Always, as in I never put more than X pounds in, and if I really want to know, I make sure it is at ambient temperature, but if it is hot, and has less than X pounds, I will fill to X.

You should never run the maximum tire pressure on the sidewall of the tire on any vehicle. Doing so will wear the center of the tire out since you have it over inflated for the load. The manufacturer gives you inflation based on load and that is what you should run give or take a small variation depending on load and conditions.

Agree with the above.
When getting new tires I would start with the motorcycle manufacturers recommendation on the VIN plate and adjust from there. I am currently running Michelin Commander II tires and tend to inflate the front/rear a little higher, like 33/32 PSI.

OK, you guys have not persuaded me, but at least persuaded me to try.
Normally I have always tried to have max PSI on the the sidewall, but new tire, may as well try a new air pressure.

Would it help to tell you I ran a tire and lube for a big company and went to school at Good Year and Bridgestone regularly to keep up on tire construction and care?
