2006, America has 97,000 miles on her. It is still going strong. The mechanic at Libby's stated the engine could go for up to 150,000. I hope so. Also I take extremely good care of the America. The clutch was replaced at 75,000. Mechanic stated usually is changed at about 50,000. I never red-line the motor most I all I get it up to is about 5,000 revs. It will do 80 mph at just over 4,500. rpm. So I will hope for the best and keep riding. My current mechanic at Red Line power sports in Winsted, CT. Current mechanic rpt the only other motorcycle he has ever seen with over 100K was a gold wing. What do you think?

On the other hand I red line my 03 all the time and that's with an increased redline. I flog it all the time since it seems to like it, and I have about 107 thousand miles on it.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

That's Triumph's recommendation but a lot of fellows have increased it. I reset mine to 8500 to stop hitting the limiter. Never had an issue.

109K and counting on my ‘04 Speedmaster and a ton of that has been over 5K rpm. I had read on this forum that these bikes and motors are happier when wound up and it’s especially true of the older 790cc engines with that awesome cam profile. My first bike, and I followed an alternative “break-in” procedure whereby for the first 150 miles or so on break-in oil from the factory I repeatedly would run it up to redline in 2nd and 3rd gears and let engine breaking alone bring it back down. Over and over. Maybe I’m no expert but it damn sure didn’t hurt it.

Also read here - and I was just learning to ride and the bike was new - that things seem better more often than not if shifts are delayed until about 5K rpm when leaving stops.

I had my clutch torn down at 80K miles and nothing in there even showed any wear. Everything in there looked brand new.

I have sampled every oil change to BLACKSTONE Labs, and even the most recent oil report shows this motor is as fresh as it ever was. The only thing that might keep me from seeing 200K miles on it is time and my availability to ride.

Go on and wear it out. You better pack your lunch.
