Talking to my dealer (RPM Cycles), Keith tells me the SpeedMaster/America line, and possible the entire engine family, will get upgraded to EFI in '07 or '08. He claims about a 10HP increase with much better torque and throttle response.

Can't wait to see it!!! I wonder if milage will also increase. I still hope a 1200 to 1500 cc cruiser comes into being also.

EFi is coming.
The last word from the factory was that Triumph are trying to design a system to look like carbs (so they can hide all the gubbins) for the 'classic' range of bikes.

That would be great. I'd like a little more oomph.

We've known this for a while now. It's a new EPA regulation or something. Harley has to go with all EFI bikes, too. I think most of the Japanese, German and Italian bikes already are EFI.

Great! So now we'll have fake air cleaners AND fake carbs... Oh, what the heck. No more worrying about needle sizes and rough starts in the winter. As long as the next step isn't something like coming up with an electric BA/SM and hiding the motor behind a fake parallel twin to retain the "classic" look, I'll be okay with it, I'm all about improving the product, but I wish they'd come up with a new design that did away with all the fakery to hide the components. It just gives other folks reason to de-ride our bikes for being just a modern copy of a classic instead of them being classics in their own right. Am I being too hard here? Am I making any sense? One thing, though. Brent will have to come up with a different chip for the EFI logic that will increase the HP/torque range beyond the factory settings. I'm sure there will be more to squeeze out past the factory settings.

In addition to new pipes we'll have to get Power Commanders to reset the injectors for optimal mapping.

They'll get EFI, and a nice bump in price to pay for it, too.
