I don't miss the point at all. The point is different for many people. The intellectual discussion of intelligent design often is a wedge discussion. It is designed to swing people to agreement on the design of everything was thought out. Then it moves toward mono-theistic faith and "oh, I happen to have these two books that tell us everything we need to know". That is one reason folks engage in the discussion. We have no clue who or what started it all is another reason to avoid hearing from those that have the two books, one book, sanskrit, or fun story that proves it.

If somebody gets butt hurt it is generally over belief not IQ. Because religion is so ingrained the discussion is over before it starts followed by the preaching. In general terms you cannot move a person of faith in any direction. In time many will move themselves.

The atheist is no more reprehensible than the devote. One is usually annoying white noise to the other.
