If God is actually God he can do anything he wants. If the universe can be spoken into existence he can certainly impregnate a teenage girl by wishing it. If God can create life in all it's complexity, and all the stars and planets in the universe, who are we to place restrictions on his power?

As for Jesus Christ, there are three possibilities. He was a start raving lunatic, a conniving con man or exactly who he said he was.

I personally will go with an all powerful God whose only limitations are the ones he places on himself and Jesus Christ as exactly who he said he was.

God I assume through logic, Christ through faith.

Alas, I think this discussion is in the wrong part of the site.

Sorry Larry ol' boy, but almost everything you've posited here is taking assumptions for or as fact, and unproven ones at that. And so, while your faith in certain assumptions might be strong, unfortunately your then attempt at the use of logic in your argument remains less so due to this.

But yes, you're exactly right about this thread segueing into a discussion of a subject which might be better served if placed into that "other forum" around here.

(...but then again, what would one expect to happen when the thread was titled "The Universe" and after we bunch of armchair philosophers around here spy an opportunity to pontificate upon such a thought, right?!)

Atheists love to claim they are motivated by reason and truth but offer neither when pressed. Some very cogent arguments have been made for Intelligent Design that atheists choose to mostly ignore. Lack of iron clad definitive proof by one side of the argument does not constitute proof for the other.

Absolutely!

And thus the very reason why we Agnostics are reasonably certain that Atheists are as unreasonably certain about all this as you Believers are out there, Larry.

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
