I do find it amusing that I just bought (a month ago) a book on the Norse Gods. Pretty good read, and the guy basically took the old Norse legends and "rewrote" them to make sense to us modern readers. Dark stuff, a lot of it, with plenty of revenge tales. "Norse Mythology", by Neil Gaiman.
