Just bought a 2017 Trophy. When I saw that the new Speedmaster was going for 13,500 and that there was a new Trophy at the dealer for 14,500 it only made sense. https://www.triumph-trophy.com/I plan to pick it up tomorrow, weather permitting. It has all the bells and whistles I spent a bunch of money and time putting on my 03 America plus a lot more. Including some I thought seemed a bit much on a motorcycle.

Right on Larry, that bike is gorgeous. After being passed by various touring bikes, while on thousand mile plus rides on a Speedmaster, I totally get it. I'm wanting/ lusting for a KTM SuperDuke myself. Though I'd settle for a Tiger and still be happy.

Despite being rated as superior to the BMW R1200 by most reviewers the Trophy didn't sell that well. 2017 is the last year for now. But there are rumors it may be back next year. Good for me though. I got one for about a grand more than the new Speedmaster's list price.

The Trophy's popularity has been strong with those who owned them. I always thought they were a cool bike. Unfortunately that sport-touring market is already swamped with nice options. Plus the Triumph dealer network sucks. Just sayin'...

Wondering if it's just a touch different than the Speedy. It would have to have bells and whistles on it being as it's so smooth i would need them to stay awake. Good deal for you, happy trails! Wait, that's the Tiger. Or Scrambler even

Larry, that is one beautiful ride. I've sat on the Trophy's and drooled. Really tempted to get into the sport touring class of bikes but like my Rocket too much. The Trophy is one quality machine. In all the reviews I've read, it ranks really well with an excellent price several thousand dollars below the BMW 1200, it's direct competition. They are heavily discounted right now. Glad you got one.

So what’s the deal Larry? Have you had a chance to ride your new bike and give us a review? I’m anxious to see what you think of the Trophy compared to your TBA. I’ve always wanted a Trophy also. Much better value than the BMW RT.

The weather has mostly sucked recently so not much riding. Full report to follow soon I hope. If you're interested in a Trophy now is the time to get it. Prices are 25& or more off until they're gone.
They have a good website at https://www.triumph-trophy.com

Yeah they have a black one at Eurotek the OKC Triumph dealer for 13,999. I kinda like the blue though. There’s one at RPM cycles in Dallas but they don’t list the price. Did you trade in/sell your America or keep it?
I’m just wondering after having cruisers for the last 16 years if I can make the transition from Cruiser to Sport/Touring. That’s why I’m interested in your experience w your new bike.

The America isn't going anywhere. The 2000 Adventurer, on the other hand, will be on the auction block. The Trophy has a LOT of stuff I spent good money adding to the America, plus a lot of things I could never get. Such as traction control, linked anti lock brakes, electronically adjustable suspension, cruise control, electrically adjustable windshield and a lot more. My favorite is the 6.6 gallon fuel tank and reported MPG of 50. I plan to take it on a longish ride (600 miles) this month to see how I want it set up. I'll report back once I've gotten to know it better. It has so many bells and whistles I'll need a pre-ride checklist until I'm used to it.
I've seen them selling for less than half of what a new BMW R1200RS is going for. A real steal for what you get.
As for the color, I too would have preferred blue but I plan to paint it Dodge Viper Yellow this summer to make it stand out in traffic, plus some more lights as well. The stock horn is weaker than the one that came on the America so I've already bought a Stebel but haven't installed it yet.
Right now is the last chance to get one new, and at a great price.

I've been riding the America for so long and so far that it's almost a part of me now. Getting used to the Trophy is taking a while. For one thing, it's a lot taller than the America. I can sit on the America with both feet flat on the ground and my knees a little bent. I'm on tip toes on the Trophy. I've ordered a lowering kit that should help. The Trophy is much bigger and 150 pounds heavier so I'm learning to be extra careful at slow speeds and pushing it. The brakes are amazing, twin rotors and anti lock, they will stop you RIGHT NOW! It is deceivingly fast. I thought I was about 65 MPH but was passing 90. Luckily the cruise control will help me keep my speed down. I'm looking forward to a longer trip and will report back what happens.

Finally got to take the Trophy out for a few hours. Very quick, outstanding brakes, a little top heavy for someone used to the America. Handles and takes bumps very well. Feels lighter than it is above walking speed. On a nice stretch of unpatroled county highway I decided to open her up. Went very quickly to 125 on the speedo but some guy pulled out in front of me a half a mile away so I backed off. GPS said 118 and I still don't know what it'll do.

Sounds excellent.....Making the change from a cruiser style isn't easy....for me I've ridden bikes in that style for nigh on 40 years....and now, though I could make the change, my Beloved won't..she's. Still living in the sixties. Shame...the Trophy ticks a lot of boxes...glad you like it

I just love me a cruiser, but I was impressed with the list of "features" your new bike has. For instance, I never in my LIFE wanted for cruise control, but since I've been using it on my Indian, now it's a deal breaker. Integrated brakes sounds like a great safety feature also.

The Trophy comes with most everything I can imagine adding to a bike. I did put my own GPS on it, not a big deal since I already had it. I lowered the rear end about an inch and a half so I can put both feet down. The fuel tank is 6.6 gallons and so far I think I've been getting about 50 MPG. I've put 235 miles on since I filled it and the computer says I have 70 plus miles left. The cruise control is mainly good for keeping my speed down.

I finally got a longer ride on the Trophy. The stock seat needs to be replaced, I miss floorboards as my knees don't like being bent all the time and my right foot is getting cooked by the heat coming off the radiator.
I've already bought the crash bars on which I'll install some pegs to rest my feet and straighten my knees. I'll also install a deflector to send the waste heat away from my foot. There seem to be a lot of choices for a replacement seat.
As big and heavy as the bike seemed at first I've gotten used to it. It still takes some care at very low speeds but once I'm going fast enough to keep both feet up it handles like a dream. And it is FAST!!
My America isn't going anywhere but neither is the Trophy.

Congratz on the Trophy. That is a beautiful bike. Totally get changing riding styles, but it is great having two in the garage.
I have the America torn apart right now. I went crazy at TTP over the winter and ordered all new electronics, Stage 2 intake kit, and a Safe Start.
We had a late spring which jumped straight to summer it seems so I have been racking up miles on the Rocket , but really missing my America.

Congrats on the Trophy, Larry!
I’ve been waiting to hear how you liked it after you’ve had some time to learn to appreciate it. Tell me again what a Trophy gets you that a Tiger would not? While either would work for me, it’s the Tiger Sport 1050 I’ve longed for to come stateside.
My 2004 Speedmaster isn’t going anywhere. I took a buddy’s 2003 America for a spin last week and other than bars, wheels and brakes it’s the same bike.
My 2009 Speedmaster is a transformation though. We’re talking about changing bike types and getting used to something new?
I’m sure the Thruxton tank changes nothing, but the Norman Hyde foot controls make it a totally different bike. Moved the pegs back 4”. Did drop the front triple tree down a bit to level the tank - and that changed the handling.
I really like the more mid-oriented foot controls. My feet no longer feel heavy on the pegs.
Now to get some rubber tank knee pads for grip!
