I just want to get this out of the way. My unexpected departure from the GA Rally the last 2 years was none of my doing, and I have missed my brothers and sisters on this site very much. I cannot wait to see some old friends and don't be surprised if I shed a few tears. Just sayin'''.

Bummed Dani and I won't be able to make it this year. It just wasn't in the cards to be in GA for May this year.
But I have a recommendation for the ride, and a story to go along with it. It'll be my contribution to this year's pole barn chats.
The recommendation is to use the Rever app to track the rides this year. Add me on there and I'll see when you post the rides and photos. You can create a group too if you want. Let me know if you need a hand.
Story in next post...

My pole barn story for this year:
I found out about Rever recently because I bought a bunch of Butler motorcycle maps. They're great to have on hand out here in the rockies. The maps led me to the Rever app, and I started playing around with that.
For a few different reasons, I checked Rever out on the web and saw they're located in Colorado, a few hours west of Denver. Looking on LinkedIn a bit, I noticed one of the co founders of the company is the guy who started Butler maps ... hence the connection.
Anyway, I guess he saw I looked at his profile, and he added me. We started chatting a bit via message and eventually phone about possible job opportunities. The suggestion was made for me to come out for a meeting ... so I said "well, just so happens I'm riding a motorcycle from Atlanta to Denver in a few weeks ... I could just swing by ..."
So I did. After starting out from Atlanta on Monday, I ended the trip by having "interview beers" with the Rever team last Friday out in Eagle CO.
Not sure if anything will come of it (lots if if's) ... but a fun story nonetheless!
Ya'll have fun this year, and use the Rever app!

WTH Jake? If you get a job with them I am going to be pissed. That’s my dream job. Plus I used to live out in Glenwood Springs which is not far from Eagle. Just joshing ya. I hope you get a job with them. plus you would be a lot closer to you know who that gives good hugs. Unfortunately I am not going to make it either to GA this year for various reasons. It sounds like it’s going to be a good un though

drop a ‘sweet’, add a ‘right’ and one can almost hear Jackie Gleason. lol
Been a long time since rain gear was donned before leaving the driveway. Should clear the wet at Milledgeville, south of Madison, south of Athens. Dry when rolling into Dahlonega. Then pontoonies er pontoons all week long. Ah, the good old days of the GA rally! Looking at a 7am kickstand up. A month ago, April 16, saw much the same except dressed for cold weather not for the wet. This trip, no cold weather gear. Hum, I’d better stow sum just in case the weather liers get it wrong and we ride the cherohala. Brrrr. Funny how one month ago, same ride, saw me powering up my heated vest in hazlehurst whereas today I’ll be lucky to be stowing my rain suit thereabouts. Currently scarfing loads of bacon java an egg toast and more java.
See all you fellow ducks this week! And grrr’s landlords this evening!!

I did not get wet until I got to Dahlonega. Looks like it is going to rain all day today. Did not get too wet going to lunch, it is just light rain.
Hoping for some dry time this weekend

AC compressor crapped the bed at the house. Currently dealing with that ******. If I get it sorted out I may be down on Saturday. Life IS a bitch. Is there a Saturday ride planned?

Most of the rides so far have been around the dark clouds. Head towards the light, if it gets dark, turn.

Just back about an hour ago. Moe should be hitting Merritt Island soon. It was good to have two founding members of the FLA Riding Crew back together ripping through Central Georgia on two Trumps. I am drinking some 'shine in an Epsom salt bath, and dreaming of Kentucky.

so good to see everyone. cant wait to get back.
as always thanks to Chy and Di for their great hospitality

Pretty bummed I missed the get together this year. Sometimes life has priorities that takes precedent over pleasure I suppose. Got the AC unit fixed Friday evening, $$$ I had planned to slip into Georgia on Saturday, that also didn't work out so I had a one man Rally, I road Saturday evening, Hwy 116 over to Brushy Mountain Penitentiary, or what's left of it. Sunday was another nice ride into the Carolina's, Hot Springs, Lake Junaluska and parts unknown. Hope to see you folks on the highway sometime soon, till next time. May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields.

We sure missed you Mike, we kept hoping maybe you would be able to ride on in, join us for at least Saturday, also thinking if you were on the road you would probably be drenched most the way. I'm glad you did get a ride in. We missed Jake and Dani too. Also others we thought may make it this time. Each rally is different, I am already anticipating Ga Rally '19
