On the back of Donny's post about the new Tiger 800, it looks like the Explorer is now the Tiger 1200 ... LINK

What is it about low seats...are we all shrinking? At 6'3" I want higher seats.....meanwhile manufacturers continue to chase the imagined market in women riders and presumably gnomes and pixies. Bah!

They are not chasing an imagined market IMHO. The most common male inseam is 31-32 inches. They want most customers to be able to get both feet grounded for safety reasons.
The feedback they get from the market is shorter people, the majority being under 6 feet don't want the tall bikes.
A 31" inseam won't get both feet down at a stop with a 31" seat height.

Most people prefer to put their growth in the brain, not their inseam. Tall folks have a high center of gravity and have a tuff time getting enough blood to their brain. This explains why short people are smarter than the taller folks.

That sounds pretty scientific. I will go with that as I am a very smart 5'8".

Then there are those individuals with an exceptionally large junk package, which necessitates the need for a lower seat to comfortably flat foot the bike at stops..
