Well guys I contacted a machining company that would try to repair the worn cam bores on our heads when they become worn. The only remedy is to buy a new head with cams for about $1600.00 USD. The plan is to not only repair the cam bores but machine them so as to use automotive type bearings such as the type used in crankshafts and rod bearings. That way as the cam wears you can replace the bearings with the next size up. Now I'm trying to locate a used head to ship to them. I already sent them the minimum and maximum cam bore specs. As for excessive cam journal wear, the journal can be built back up to specs by any cam shop such as Webb Camshaft. It would be a lot cheaper than buying a new head and cam set (they have to be bought as a set). If anyone out there knows of a set of junk heads laying around or for sale at a cheap price. In the mean time I'm still scouring Craig's List and E-Bay for an old head.

Cool! I would love to see a solution especially including bearings. Why a set? Is it the way they sell them? You can swap out cams so I don't see a physical reason.

IAN, I BELIEVE TRIUMPH SELLS THE HEADS AND CAMS AS A SET. I COULD BE WRONG. MAYBE SOMEONE ON THIS SITE COULD VERIFY.

I JUST CHECKEKED MY PARTS LIST. THE HEADS ARE AROUND $1500. THE CAMS ARE $632 FOR BOTH INTAKE AND EXHAUST OR $331 A PIECE. THAT COMES TO $2,132 FOR THE SET.
