My bike went in for a service today. No problems, and they've done a decent job, but...the charge for labour was
£45 ($83.25) per hour
(Charged 3 1/2 hours labour for a 2 year service - inspection, oil change, brake fluid change, dismantle and clean calipers).
I'd guess the mechanic makes £10-£15 (£18-$28) per hour? I appreciate that the dealer has to pay his rent, heating, tools etc in addition to the mechanic, but £45 an hour seems a bit steep.
Is this about average?
(Before anyone suggests it, I'll be doing my own servicing from now on, but I wanted to get the bike dealer serviced while it's still in the warranty period).
