Chain maitenence? I never touch mine, no lube no cleaning and last one went about 24,000 miles and was still OK but changed it anyway. I have not had any other problem with my 04 SM. My chain can be repaired along the road in about 5 minutes in the event of a failure and I can ride for weeks on that repair, or longer.
