Get the bike level and check the sight glass on the case. Ought to be a low and high mark and you should be between those, then you can assess the need to remove. It doesn't take much over to make an engine puke a little bit of oil, some older bikes will evacuate as much as a pint before they're happy. If it were me, I'd open the air box and clean up the mess before it ruins the air filter.
