On this bike the ignition switch housing is connected to the top yoke, from underneath .... with shear head bolts ...

So to (properly) replace the ignition switch you have to take the whole front end apart, remove the top yoke, drill out the bolts, and reinstall with new shear heads.

Actually sounds like a "fun" project given I can get the bike off the ground ;-) Taking the front ends apart on the speedy and 675 weren't any big deal with the right tools.
