5 yrs ago, june 25th 2012 was the day i got into a wreck on my Triumph Speedmaster. Thank god i've moved on from that BS. Now retired and have a granddaughter thats 6-1/2 yrs.old and a GREAT Grandson that's 1 yr.old. A good wife that's stood by me through thick and thin and a very loving and supportive family. How the heck i ended up being blessed with all of these wonderful people is beyond me.
I'm truly glad that they're there and i need them more than i could ever show. Where's all this leading to i don't know but am just reflecting back on a incident that happened 5 yrs.ago that could just as easily have resulted in my death.
Just take a few minutes to reflect on the good things you have to be grateful for.

no not giving up riding even though my wife has vowed never to get back on a bike again. It just seems like the BIG anniversaries in our life, 5,10.15 and so on carry that little extra meaning, seems like i'm getting older and more sentimental ( or just mental) the older i get, still at 62 (almost) there's still life in the old dog yet.

I know what you mean. I'm 63 and am constantly amazed that I'm still on the planet.I have finally admitted that I need a new steel knee and I will be starting the process in October.I was trying to hold out until I was 65 but it needs doing now.I'll be 64 before it happens anyway. My fear is if it doesn't work, and 10% of them don't, it will curtail or even end my riding.Which is still one of my greatest pleasures.

We don't get to be this age without a few scrapes or bruises, i suppose we should try to limit the severity of the scrape or bruise we get. October will be here before you know it and hopefully all goes well. If for some reason you end up in that 10% which i hope you don't you could always put a chair on the bike (sidecar). I had one on a 650 Golden Flash back when i was 19 and remember doing donuts in the snow at wintertime.

Yes Des,there's always a chair I suppose, but I don't like them much. Still it's an alternative to giving up riding if the worst happens.I know one guy rode a 1973 sportster with a right leg that was almost completely stiff,no bend at all so there's ways and means.
