Rich, some might consider 10 hours a day a bit harsh, that said, 'time' is not the issue this time of year. Riding this time of year is "Hotter than a jug full of red ants." Beware. It'll kick ya in the butt and make you wish for winter.

C'mon now Moe, as a fellow long distance rider I KNOW you aren't cautioning me against racking up the miles! And heat don't bother me a single widget! But I WILL have to watch out for my niece. I want her to remember the trip as pleasurable, not a chore. I'll make it clear to her that she has to speak up about her comfort level. She's been pretty good, though. A real trooper. Finally, the extended forecast I get is for the temps to be in the middle 70s next week. Perfect riding weather!

lol yeah I was expressing concern for your niece. And with the temps forecast for the mid 70s...Dang the both of you are going to have a ride to remember!!!

Back in 2010 when in Montana, I had a similar desire to not only see the Pacific but to touch both Washington and Oregon. Well given that I had a Rally in NY to attend, I kinda abandoned those thoughts. Instead I found myself, for the first time in my life, riding in snow.
Had just bought some overpriced AAA batteries in Cooke City then proceeded to roll through Bear Tooth Pass headed to NY via Red Lodge, looking to snap tons of photos as I rode through the pass. I stopped to marvel at the hint of snow on the Cooke City side of the pass snapped some pictures then mounted and rode as I realized that the snow was heading my way and I should skedaddle right quick through the Pass. I was scared to death as the snow drifts eventually covered the entire road surface the higher up I rode and at the top the winds were 30mph and the road was iced over with what I call cypress roots emerging from the surface, er I digress. Point? You might consider slabbing it to the beach then should time allow hitting some of rural roads as, either way, you'll be giving up a WORLD of outstanding roads to make it to the Atlantic, and yet, even then, your ride will be remarkable.

To quote newt, "Enjoy !!!!!!!!"
