Oh dear, this makes me the oddity....I've read it twice...once when it came out and more recently a couple of years back.
I actually liked it a lot....even making allowances for my suspicion that some of it was a convoluted way of him making sense of his own mental health issues.
One thought sticks even today
I paraphrase..."Who are the makers going to take off the production line to organise the workshop manual? Is it the guy who really knows how to build the things? No, it'll be the guy who's not going to be missed much when he's not making engines."
I sure hope he was wrong with that one
