I'm sure this has been covered before but I just can't seem to make sense of the search function. I've got an 014 LT.......been waiting for the 1200 TBA......it might be too small physically for me. Is there any value in upgrading my 865 to 904? It seems such a small increase...does it justify the effort involved?

Could make it worth it by changing cams, blueprinting, opening up the intake and exhaust but leave some back pressure. The 904 has higher compression so you gain that with the small increase in cc.

I had the cam & big bore upgrade done at the 12,000 mile service. While it was not a big difference (like a different motorcycle) it was a noticeably improved, smooth, responsive and fun motorcycle. Approx gains were HP=10, TQ=6 Do the cams (813 grind for example) when/if you do the 904 big bore. Little benefit from the increased cc's if you can't flow enough fuel into them. Air box mods and free flowing exhaust of course. And speaking of fueling, a custom dyno-tune would then be needed. I'm glad it's done, and I did it when I could afford it.
09 America, some modifications

Thanks for that too. I'm looking mostly to improve two up touring rather than outright top speed. Whilst I do use it as an all round bike at present, a bit more urge would be an advantage when loaded up.

That's good since the BB will not effect top speed, that's gearing and rev limiter.

Go for 1100. Not to much difference from 865 to 904. Stay with the 865 and get some old 790 cams or hot ones, remap and go for some good flow (In and out)...

I'd hang on a bit if you can Al. Thanassis has said over on the "other bikes" section he has been told the new 1200 cruiser will have twin shocks so there's a chance it'll be bigger than the spy pictures.I live in hope it'll be more America than Bobber.

Yep, I'm hanging on...but not intending to part with my LT if I can help it. Trouble is I can't seem to sell my HD Switchback.... even well under price....been 3 times on eBay now....so I need a plan B.

Alatamoc, not sure how far you want to go with regards to modding your LT, but if you're looking for more mid range torque our EFI Stage 1 Torque Induction Kit will give you around 17% more mid range torque with TORS fitted. It'll also give around 8% more top end power which is handy to have.

Thank you... I may well be giving you a call in due course......just sold my Switchback today so that's one less impediment to my parting with dosh. What I'll probably do is to see how our two up tour of Southern Scotland goes in a month or so....if as I suspect...I'm wanting more grunt I'll sort it then
