So guys, I know I'm not here much any more. the last time was to announce that I was ordering goodies from Brent and I was back in WA state.

Well yes the noology wires and coils are on. The new regulator,,,, HOW the ^&*# do you get them on the TBA with out pulling loose an engine? cause the fittings don't fit between engine and frame (so eventually ill be cutting wires on a brand new regulator and putting pin connectors on them all so I can get it where it needs to go.)

And then I replaced the brake pads.,,,, Guess I should have looked at the tech vault,,, cause now I have the cant get any pressure on the brakes and that has never happened b4.

So Ill buy a big bottle of DOT and try some ideas.

I still have a miss in the engine somewhere. It was not in the plugs or coils. you can audibly hear it not firing correctly. I'm about to say S###w it and get the PRO-Com. New search feature is not working out for me- (whats up with the complicated new page?) but I remember a CDI thread. Someone talked about re-wireing something, which is still beyond my comprehension. So either a new stock one or the pro-com.for the price might as well go with pro-com I think.

OH YES, is there a thread on repacking the calipers and cleaning them up? cant find it either

Its frustrating in that I have had no maintenance problems in 12 yrs till now. At almost 300 bucks The CDI issue tweaks my nipples!

and lastly.
HELLO TO ALL OF YA WHO REMEMBER ME

No problem in 12 years? $300.00 sounds like no problem.
Might I suggest you forgo the Procom and order the TTP Firestarter instead.
harbor freight has a fantastic brake bleeder for around $30.00. Hook it to your air compressor, and bada bing they are bled. Google is your friend

Oh, and as Kotter once said welcome back....

Thanks for the TTP tip. I had never heard of it. yea i have been trying to get to HF, just dont seem to make it there enough lol. Its a dangerous place for me to walk into!

As to the 300, in 12 yrs I do agree, but at this time I have a lot of my cash tied up (sad story I know lol)

However the good news is I now have my LLC for my side business, and I need to get the rest of the apps for city's and the Feds taken care of.

I didn't have to cut anything for the rec/reg replacement. I did pull the bolts for the battery bracket to wiggle it up & out of the way for the plug to pass.

And I also visited HF when I did my rear brakes last. Picked up a hand operated vacuum pump thingy that worked well for the rear brake fluid.

edit: now I'm not so sure it was the battery bracket I loosened but I did loosen something that made getting the rec/reg plug into place much easier.

All I know is I was grease covered and pissed off. If ya can think about what you loosened, snap a picture and send it to me with an arrow pointing to it.

Getting the regulator out is a pain in the ass! I think Triumph intended for the rear swing arm or engine to be loosened and moved to get to it. Its the reason I haven't ever replaced mine (and it hasn't ever give me an issue).

On your brake... try the old method of leaving it pulled back overnight with the reservoir cap off. That stinking little bubble can be a dirty ****** to get out.

And the above mentioned Firestarter is the new "it" CDI in place of the procom. Its also a lot easier to deal with.

Welcome back! The again, Ive also been MIA for a while.

Yes, it was the battery I messed with to make room for the rec/reg plug. Take the battery out, remove the bolts holding the battery tray (& brake line) in place. No need to wrestle the tray out, just be able to move it out of the way.

how did you get the wire head out from between that frame tube and the engine? I had no problem routing it down to there.i had everything loose, but it was like trying to pull a square through a smaller round hole. maybe mine was routed wrong and put that wire through the frame in the wrong place? or like Zmilim said, gotta remove the damn swing arm.

yep Im hitting HF today for a pneumatic bleeder and im also ordering the new CDI unit

OK, I looked at swapping the rec/reg today. Took a few pics that hopefully will help. No need to do anything with the battery or tray. Not sure what project I was remembering.

I think what I did was to remove the 2 bolts holding the rec/reg in place letting it hang free.

Unplug it from the wiring harness (my plug end is white so I had wrapped some black tape so it didn't stand out). It routes down past the battery tray.

Remove the bolt seen under the battery tray that is holding a wire keeper/support bracket.

That piece needs to be rotated and moved down the wire it is "keeping" and out of the way.
edit: OK, after looking this back over, I think I did take out the lower bolt for the battery bracket & rear brake line bits. The one needing a Allen bit seen in the pic. Making some wiggle room allowing me to have just a bit more slack on top disconnecting the rec/reg and routing the wiring.

Then pull the plug out & down from the motor and frame.Allowing the wire to slide down between the motor and frame with the plug outside.

Then pull it out the bottom though the area above the brake line parts seen in the first pick And the rec/reg will be loose, and likely on the floor. Reverse the process for installation.

I thought the regulator rectifier was supposed to be an easy replacement. Maybe a difference between model years?
I better investigate, I have been thinking about getting one of the Hot Shots from Rick's Motorsport Electrics..

Man thanks that gives me hope! LOL

I installed the TTP last night and the bike sounds much better but cant test under load till I have brakes! Still cant get them. used a pneumatic bleed kit, 30oz of fluid later, still nothing! looks like a trip back to the shop!

Guys, if you think it's not producing and you plan to replace it just cut harness and leave enough to splice it back together, if you ever need to do that one day. That's what I did, guess what never needed that old unit again.

I did the Mosfet replacement a few years ago. On of the best decisions I've made on the America as I've never had charging issues since. I do recall I had to fab a small bracket as the new units mounting holes do not quite line up with the frame bracket. No big deal.

Just wanted to mention that TTP firestarter is the way to go, not problematic like the procom.

I had to utilize reverse brake bleeding on my front brake, and as previously mentioned, you may have to strap your brake lever to the handgrip overnight to get all the air bubbles out, best wishes.
