I am going to California from the 13th through the 20th of May. I really want to ride while I am there. I have relatives there that I really want to ride the Sierras with for a day or two. Problem is I can't rent a TBA out there that I can find. Should I lower myself by getting a Street Bob from Folson HD? Would I risk getting canned from this site by the moderators? Need some advice. It would be good if such a place existed that you could rent Triumphs. I think your only option is to rent a HD. If you don't rent one, you may kick yourself later for not taking advantage of the weather and riding (no matter what it is you ride).

I was just there. I couldn't find anything for renting a Triumph, actually there was one but it was a Sprint. There are several places that rent BMW's.

Soren, I think you are right. I lived there for nine years and did a lot of riding with my 69tr6. The roads are great, but I have no desire to ride anything but a Triumph. TR

With DIVERSITY being the name of the new corporate image, go with the Street Bob. It is a nice looking machine, just wear your Triumph T-shirt if you feel the need to explain yourself! (Not that there's anything wrong with that ). Just remember "Fat chicks and mo-peds...both are fun to ride, ya just don't want your friends to see you!" Yeah, I know...I'm gonna burn in Hell for that one! later, Tom.
But, what do I know?

I will definately take my vest with the Triumph wing patch with me when I go, hope I'm not going to be nicknamed by this gang if I do lower myself. There are cruel people on this site. TR

One more reason I love Europe, I can rent a Triumph America from pretty much any Trumpet shop there (at least anywhere in Germany) for about the same as a HOG here. I wonder if they give a discount though if I return it with rejetted carbs, Avon Venoms and Bubs? Maybe pay ME for renting it...

TR, by all means rent the HD. Better to ride an HD than not ride at all. Give us a report upon your return. Enjoy!

I'd ride it!
Hummmm... I'm not sure if I meant the HD, the fat chick, or the moped.
Maybe, all of the above.

I wanted to get a bike when I'm in the US in September and again in December but I didn't really want a Hardley.
I was considering a Gold Wing ('cause I've never ridden one) or a BMW .....

It does not hurt to go to the "Dark Side" for a weekend, hell, I'm doing that right now. I work tours, and am in the west of oz for 2 weeks, a mate just bought a Hardly Street Bob, and asked me to ride it for the weekend so that he could put it in for it's first service next week. 710Km on the clock, I hope to put on between 6 and 700 Km this weekend, and I am at work!! Just imagine getting paid to ride for the weekend, just have to have the phone on vibrate, (hard to tell if it's the phone or the farm implement I'm riding!!)To be honest I am quite impressed with it, although the pegs need to be moved forward. avagoodweekend!

When I go so Oz next year I'm looking at hiring something on 2 wheels, while I would love it to be Triumph, I don't want it to have plastic all over it. So I may hae to lower myself to a Hardley, but it's the travelling around that I want to do that will be important, not necessarily what I'm riding.
But a Gold Wing Ade....I thought you had better taste than that!!!
Gina
03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel...
06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel...
09 America - It's very blue....

That definitely is the most important part. If a Hardley is the only thing available to get, then do it.

Go for it. Riding that area is one of my wishes. Next time I'm there, I think I'll be renting one too. My aunt actually lives in Folsom, about 3 miles from the dealership there. Went in with my dad when we were all there last Thanksgiving, and looked (my dad rides and HD). Seems like a nice shop. I know they do quite a few rentals. And riding the Sierras should be fantastic this month - no matter what you're on! So go for it, we'll forgive you later! Becky

Old saying where I work, "Better to ask forgiveness later than permission now"(meaning you'll never get permission-from our customers at least!)... Go for it.

Thanks for all the insites, all. I guess the overwhelming idea here is to lower myself just to be on two wheels. That sounds good to me, I will take all of your advice and do it. The Sierras are indeed beautiful riding roads, I have riden there in the past. One strange thing about Folsom Harley renting bikes is that they want a $2500 credit card deposit to protect against me wrecking their 06 bike, plus $135 a day to ride it. That is not a deal breaker though. The Street Bob is the closest in weight to the BA that Hardley has, and has gotten good reviews in the mags. Thanks again all. Will try to have the wife post some pics upon our return. Adey. a Wing???? Erwin, PM me. TR
