My wife and I did NH To WA To AK To Tx To NH, in 2002. Not on the bikes, in a jeep, we camped the whole way. It was incredible, to anyone thinking about doing this. Do it, now rather than later. This is an amazing country we live in, and must be seen to be appricated. I would go Dallas to Seattle if I was you. And run rte 1 from northern California, to WA. That was beautiful. Buy a national park pass and camp in them. Its much cheaper than commerical sites.
