My wife had a reble 8 years ago but had to sell it because of kids. She has been wishing for a bike again no that the kids are getting older.

So I was surfing facebook market place and found a 1997 honda shadow 600 for $850. Needs a chain sprockets and a speedo cable. Not a bad price so I figured I would start with a low offer of $500 and see what happens. Well need less to say the guy really needed money and took the offer so we jumped in the truck and when and got it be for he had a chance to change his mind. The bike starts runs and rides good for the short distance I could go. We picked up a chain sprocket and a cable for all under $100. So my wife I ready to start riding again just need to ride it long enough to get it warm to make sure the cooling system works right.

Nice looking bike the color combo looks great. I had one a few years ago, it takes a special thin wall socket to get out the 2 inner plugs,Mine had 2 plugs per cylinder, hope you got the tool kit with the bike. I had to grind down a socket to get it to fit in the narrow space around the plugs. Those are one sweet running bike with a good sounding exhaust right from the factory. Sounds like you got a great deal. Congrats.

I had one I used in Thailand.
Reliable but a bit slow. You wont be comfortable on freeways with it but cruising at 65mph all day no trouble.I had to just about replace the cooling system as the guy I got it from only ran water in it not coolant
After I replaced the seat with a mustang,I did 400 miles straight.I didn't want my rear end anywhere near the bike for three days afterwards though.

Is that a 4 gear bike?? I know a guy that has a 600 and his is. He put some exhaust on it and it sounds just like a sportster , not sure what brand they are but bike sounds awesome!! he is always wishing he had a 5th gear . He is making it a bobber and has shown me some pics of what he is wanting , they look real good in bobber form, but that bike is so clean looking I don't think I would start chopping it up. Congrats on purchase of nice bike.

Yes it's 4 speed and yes I was always looking for a 5th gear too but I was often looking for a 6 th gear on my America.I put a 19t front sprocket on and now not so much.I admit I have looked for a 6th gear a couple of times but not many.

Had a guy ride one of those with a group of us to Laconia , NH 2 up. He had no problem keeping up with us and it never skipped a beat. We rode in the driving rain all the way to nothern Conn. it rained so hard I couldn't see the tail light of the bike in front of me. It was cold too and kept getting cold, why we eventually stopped in Conn.He and a guy on a HD both commented on how tough Tom and I were. We told them not really we just wanted to get there! Those 2 were both novice riders.

Seen my friend that has that bike today and ask him what pipes he's running on that thing. Hard Krome is what he said and I'm telling you that is te best sounding Honda I have ever heard . Sounds like a sportster coming down the street. If you are interested ? Just thought you should know just in case you wanted that bike to sound right. Lol
