the wife and I did a 5500 mile, 15 day tour of the western US last summer (on the thunderbird). Some awesome roads and scenery out there.

That's some going. I was touring the southern states in 2015 and covered 5100 miles in 13 days and that just felt like driving all day every day. At least I was in the luxury of a rental car !

Would you guys give it a break already, I own an America and a Sporty, they are both good reliable bikes. I have bought two new Harley's in my life while my brother bought two new BMW's, guess which two NEVER had to go in for warrenty work. Here is a hint, my bikes had zero problems.

Sorry we will NEVER give it a break. This is a Triumph site. You want some Hog warm and fuzzies go to a Harley site.

I own a Triumph, a Suzuki and 2 Harley's, I mostly enjoy this site because it generally has a more mature group of riders, riders who own a fair variety of bikes and don't fall back on tiresome cliches as to brands and stereotypes. I hope I have not been kidding myself.

Say What? Well fairly mature. No one likes the motorcycle better then the one between their knees.Ride what you like when you like it.

I am not qualified to speak to any maturity levels, but the comments got me thinking. In addition to owning a fair range of motorcycle brands over the years, I often ride with diverse groups of riders. And I cannot think of any one brand that I have seen that never had a problem. Not constant, but if you put enough miles on, something will go amiss. any brand (every brand). maybe the perception of HD is what it is because there are so many more out there.

I have most brands of bikes over the years including HD. Their riders have to endure considerable joking, etc. Some of it deserved because of the number of weekend riding dentists, lawyers, etc. etc.
Makes for decent jokes at times, such as this quote from a Triumph rider on another forum, "I couldn't go full hooligan because of the traffic. I kept running up on minivans that were being held up by Harleys."
Yes, I laughed. All in good fun.
