Nah, I think the're all gonna fall under 30 K. I'm not impressed though, just different accessories "lipsticking" the same bikes that were available last year. Same thing HD has been doing for years.

I figure 2 of the 3 will be under 25k. You are right they will just color them up different with some variation of accessories.

Read this a while back on Revzilla. After the recession 560,000 bikes sold in the US. Before recession 1.1 million.

They all have to be careful about pricing themselves out of the market. It appears the MC craze me be diminishing.

I am thinking, just thinking, that Scout 60 may be a competitor with Triumph, Yamaha, and HD. I think its a pretty cool bike with plenty of power.

I've ridden the Scout, it's a blast but it sits very low. One of the sales guys at the local dealer rides one. He has ground the pegs almost in half.
Yes the Roadmaster is their most expensive bike @ 29,995.00. The article mentions a new Roadmaster "Classic". I would imagine it will be as much or probably higher than the Roadmaster.
I'm just spitballing here with a bit of tounge in check on prices.
My point was, these are bikes in the 30k ballpark. Think about that, say it a few times. God forbid you add on the Stage 2 kit.

I don't know about the rest of you Jimmy and Joe's but 30k for a motorcycle is a lot of money to me.

Yes, and no motorcycle manufacturer is looking to you as a customer. You buy used, fix your own and live happily ever after.

The younger folks are buying cars. The average age of a motorcycle buyer in the us is 48 with a household income of 85 grand.

I can stand up to 15 K for a bike, but thats my limit of comfort. And that's why I sweat paying for my 21 K Indian 6 months out of 12. In order of loved, my "57" Triumph comes first, cause I built it myself, piece by piece and it carried my butt all over hades with very little trouble. . But next is my Indian, I just love it to death. My America was probably the best bike I ever owned, 51 thousand, trouble free miles.

The whole world has gone crazy, $50K for a pickup,$25K for a bike. A good used America can be had for $5K around here. I'm old, my 1st house cost me $22K, my youngest son just bought his 1st house and it was a deal at $179K. God help us.

Aside from my SM I never paid more than $600 for any of my bikes and I have a BMW, 20 British bikes, and I had a 65 Pan. Even though the pan was rough I should have kept it, worth money now,last year for the pan head and first for the electric start.

My house cost me 22K too.Sold it for 70K then they went to 270K now you can't get much in that area for less than 350K

Well, since we're comparing; Never spent more than $900 for a bike before I bought my America used for 4 thousand in 2007. Course, just like Ian, bought them used (and sometimes junk and in pieces). My first house cost close to 50 K total after I finished building it, 9 years after starting it. I borrowed 25 K to build my second house and it will probably cost 50 K total if I ever finish it. (It's about 80% complete now and plenty cozy, if not pretty everywhere.) I don't suppose I'll EVER spend that kind of money on a machine ever again, but I had to have something brand new and REALLY nice just once that I didn't slave over. My advice would still be the same however. Buy slightly used and save a fortune!

Most I ever spent on a vehicle was my SM and that was used with 700 miles on and over a year warranty left, paid a little over $5000 for it, Hermy hooked me up!

Thats fine, no argument, just pointing out 30k is a ton of money and there are many less than that.

Actually I like the two tone Scout for around 12K.

Yep I agree.I think an engine upgrade to 1,200cc] may have helped the BA/Speedy but who knows.If I wished to buy a bigger cruiser Victory would have been top of my list.

In that case Rich, if you happen to run across a nice used Indian Springfield in the next year or so, and say for $14K or so(new about $21K), let me know about it if ya will.

'Cause that's one of the few motorcycles I've seen and test ridden in the last few years I've got the urge to own, and although something in Triumph's new water-cooled Bonneville line might be on that list too.

(...but I already own three Triumphs, and so that Indian model tops that list)

Wife said she wanted a bigger bike I looked at the Indian Springfield and the R3T. I paid $13,500.00 for the R3T untitled and 26 miles on it from the showroom floor. I don't totally understand this used-new stock other than it came from another dealer through Triumph.

I really like Triumph, but I can tell you hands down the price is what sold it. I could not get a used Indian or Harley used for what I paid for the Rocket new.

It is still setting at the dealer till spring. It is a long winter for me.

They have a '16 two tone black and cream Thunderbird LT at the OKC dealership for $13,800. I paid more than that for my 2010 T Bird new I think both the 2017 LT and R3 T go for about 17,500 new.
To me anything over 10k is ridiculous for a MC.

Well, it won't be a Springfield, but if ya wait a year or so I know where you might find a used Vintage model for fairly reasonable. As long as you don't mind buying a bike with a couple hundred thousand miles on it!

This is great for the buyer but very bad for the dealers and Triumph.

It's called channel stuffing when manufacturers make dealers take more vehicles than they can realistically sell for a profit. Remember your dealer is paying for every unsold new bike they have in inventory, every month. Some manufacturers consider a vehicle "sold" when a dealer takes delivery not when a retail buyer purchases the unit. On unpopular models dealers of course get as few as they can and often trade with other dealers if they have a buyer for a specific model that is not in stock, this is popular with new car dealers but I doubt there is enough profit in a bike to pay for the often long distance shipping cost. Then there is distressed stock from failed dealers or ones that have decided to drop the franchise which can be picked up for a fraction of the cost.

Triumph is not publicly traded so they aren't required to provide detailed quarterly reports. The fourth quarter report from Polaris had a clue of trouble in that they bragged of increased number of bikes sold but made even less profit than the previous year, that's unsustainable and it didn't take long to find out what action Polaris would take to stop the bleeding.

Bike was listed for 13,999.00 then they gave me $500.00 off as a veteran. They said they would deliver it to my house. I just don't want it taking up room in the garage over the winter months. My America is my eye candy in the garage and is ready to go for those short winter rides. I will probably go up and ride her home. 3 hours of getting to know her sounds like a great date to me. Putting a bike in a trailer seems wrong.

I believe Paul's thread was originally about three so-called "new" Indian models for this year, and as it was pointed out by some, these so-called "new" models are basically just very mildly changed models from Indian's previous model year lineup.

And so, and the reason I bring this up here is for the following thought...

What Indian might consider doing in order to at least give potential customers MORE the idea of a "new model" based on their larger Chief line and in MY view would and should do is to introduce one having a modern and updated version of a girder front end, and which similarly to what H-D did a few years back with their Heritage Springer model, would utilize another aspect of Indian's "heritage", and thus offer a bike with at least some REAL difference in its overall look...especially up front. And of course, girder front ends are inherently more "anti-dive" than telescopic forks are too.
