This goes out to the Apple techies. I have a gen. two ipad, upgraded from 7 to 8 and it has gotten pathetically slow. Checked my usage and the numbers don't add up. It's a 13 GB pad, it says 12.8 GB used with 117 MB available. I added up everything I have and it all comes up to just 2.35 GB. My question is what's using up 10.65 GB of storage ? Thank you. Apps and OS both use up memory too.

I have very few apps. Wonder how much space iOS 8 uses ?

iPad Cleanup? You mean like, with a rag? 
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Call the apple helpline and they will walk you through it, i needed Mac support and set up a time and they called exactly as planned and sorted out the issue i had.

On a Gen 2 iPad?
My experience of Apple store geeks, most of them would still be at school when a 2nd Gen iPad was out !

Hey Wade, go to settings and select Manage Storage and see what's hogging your storage space and you can unload the pigs. How long since you've done a forced reboot to clear the RAM? Hold the home button and the power button until you see the logo a second time...

That's what is strange Ed, no hogs are showing. Photos are a gig and a half, everything else in a few megs. All the listed usage is just 2.35 gigs.
Tried the forced reboot, after 60 seconds still saw no second Apple logo.

Well what do you know? No more 2nd logo appearance on mine either. So once, then, is the current mode. But, it seems like that yielded no success so another thought...have you cleared the history and data from the browser recently?

Settings/General/Storage and Icloud Usage. Then chose manage storage.
It will show you what each thing has tied up. You may find the hog there. Just the IOS, its backup, and the resident apps are probably over 8GB before anything else was added.
I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

That explains it all Ron. And I do clear background apps and browsing history.
Next ipad will be a 32 or 64 .
