Yes the Valmets were very good.But as you say,expensive.When they were sold here they were bigger bucks than my favourite, the M14,[ if I remember correctly.]
The new ARs are a better deal than the old ones.faster twist barrels, better calibres,heavier projectiles, etc.,but how long has it taken to improve?
The US military are apparently beefing up their hitting power by putting some M14s back in amongst the M16s
