Hi, If you are Black and silver and were on the seafront yesterday I saw your bike! I stood near it for a time but you didn't come back! Are you happy with the pipes?

Unfortunatly i had to work yesterday. The first time ive ever missed the Mayday run, so it wasnt my bike.
For those who are reading this there is a massive run down to Hastings from Locksbottom, Orpington near london every mayday bank holiday. Thousands of bikers pack the seafront and bikes are parked everywhere you look. its a Fantastic sight.
Zeek, yes im very happy with the pipes, sounds like a Triumph now, the original pipes were way to quiet..

Welcome Zeek,

I had the standard pipes on the bike i had the test ride on, when i came back to the shop there was a bike with the off roads on. No comparision, ordered bike with off road pipes on!! Will only put legal exhasts on when its MOT is due. Think it is probably first mod we all do!

Mods.... hmmm nope, still done none of them. Other than putting a clock on. Just so I can tell how late for work I am.

Welcome Zeek. It's a madhouse in here...

Gina 03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel... 06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel... 09 America - It's very blue....

Zeek, I'm probably in a minority of one here, but for me the Off-Roads are a little too loud, although they're reckoned to be the quietest of the after market pipes.

I had some, but sold them. My compromise was to buy a pair of standard exhausts (come up on ebay from time to time for approx £50), and drill one baffle out. To my ear this makes the bike sound like a Triumph, but I don't think it's loud enough to upset anyone.

Each to their own, but the above works for me.

Check out the exhaust forum on this site for more info.

Im with you on this as well. I find my thunderbike pipes a bit too loud for long trips. I have just bought some packing material to re-pack them though. will be doing this in the next week so will let everyone know how I get on.

Whoops-a-daisy and dear oh Lord!!

As it was very pleasant this evening, I decided to go out on the America for an hour or so.

I needed fuel so pretty much went straight to the filling station.

Couldn't put my finger on it but it sounded a little 'meatier' tonight.

As I hadn't ridden it for a couple of weeks, I put it down to that.

Got to the petrol station, filled up and payed.
On the way back to the bike, I noticed wadding poking out of the left hand pipe.

After the inexplicable loss of both (what are the chances ... ?) rear baffles, I hadn't given the wadding a second thought as it seemed pretty cosy stuck in there.

At this point I put on the iPod and rode off.
Thinking "that's why it sounds meaty, I'll sort it when I get home".

Saw a mate working at his garage (nearly 8pm - WTF?) and stopped.

The wadding was still popping it's head out so I suggested Scott pull on it (well he was already dirty you see!).

Start her up - LUVERLY!!!!!

(The ride side was already missing!)

Decided it's a bit too loud and will put some back in but I took it for another 25miles - just to check ......

At this point I could hardly hear the iPod!

Today, not having any work to do (sound familiar Adey??), I put in the turnout pipe that Grzegorz (full name ) left with me. Sounded like a frickin WW2 Spitfire was flying overhead!

Definitely an improvement on the TOR's but gotta tone it down a smidge for the neighbours (and Plod) Am awaiting reply from steershead about this so looks like I owe Grzegorz (full name ) some money for a pipe

I'm also considering waiting until I get pulled (fnar, fnar!).

As it's not an endorsable offence, I'm hoping the worst they can do is make me change 'em.

It's loud but I don't think it's louder than the Scrambler.
Or a set of Screamin' Eagles for that matter.

I see your point about the neighbours ...... ah, fug 'em!!

Just pray that you don't get stopped by a VOSA bod then, they have the power to impound a bike there and then!

That said , I am sure that Plod has recently got new powers that allow then to take " un- roadworthy" vehicles off the road!! Like you say - Feck 'em!!
