I wonder what my actual top speed is on my speedy is since I can bury my speedometer.

I used a small battery powered hand held GPS that I use as an emergency backup on the boat to verify that when my '11 TBA topped out at about 100 on the speedometer it was actually only running 95 miles per hour according to the GPS. And it took a long run to get to that speed. You could download an app for your smart phone and do the same thing but your phone is connected to the internet and it might report you.

A chassis dynamometer that calibrates speedometers is no good because of course there is no wind or front tire rolling resistance.

Oh yea, speaking of turning off your machine's top speed limiter google the kid who was tuning his V6 Mustang and turned his off. Ford sets the V6 cars limit at 115 mph but the V8 models are unlimited. People used to think it was only because of the tire's speed ratings but they found out the hard way the driveshafts on the V6 cars were different (remember the driveshaft is turning about 3 times faster than the tires). Well our young hot rodder experienced driveshaft failure at 135 MPH and here's the video. Have to admit V6 Mustang/Camaro/Challengers run pretty good these days, my wife's daily driver is a 2014 Mustang V6 convertible with 305 HP and 31 miles per gallon it's a great combination.
BANG VIDEO
