Thanks Paul. My Marine friends tell me I was not in the military. I was in the Air Force. It still counts. Now I am going to put on my Eat for Free hat and hit the road.

Rememberance Day here in Canada.
At todays proceedings near the war memorial on the Sparks St. mall there was a near catastrophic event. Devine intervention, natures variances or the will of humans we wont know but only one person was hurt and not badly.
Someone shouted look out and we looked up as is the natural thing to do in a crowd to see what looked like a big piece of card board falling from the sky blown off the roof of the old post office building which is under restoration. Those of us that have done construction knew it was not card board but a sheet of plywood (3/4inch as it turned out )floating almost flat towards the earth when a gust of wind and it was very windy in the capital this morning flipped it up and it descended as fast as it could fall coming down on a steep angle. Everyone aware of the scene must have feared for their life as I did along with my wife and daughter but it veered away and hit a lamp post shearing off two globe lights before slamming into two of the supports for sculptured leaves coming off 4 points of the post. It then fell to the ground hitting one person in the shoulder she was taken to the hospital.
The Remembrance Day proceedings started minutes later which refocused everyone brains in that area but every time there was a gust of wind we all looked up.

The British used to call the air force "the Brylcream boys"[hair cream]
As I used to tell my now deceased, great friend, and Korean War Veteran , Korea wasn't a war, it was a "police action"' and we'd laugh .
He joined the air force for an easier life after the 101st airborne in Korea.
